GTA VI FAQ

When does GTA 6 come out?

Rockstar's current confirmed release window is late 2026. The game was originally targeted for Fall 2025, then May 2026, before being pushed back. A specific calendar date hasn't been announced yet — Rockstar typically locks in the exact date 2–3 months before release.

Will GTA 6 be on PC?

Not at launch. Rockstar has only confirmed PS5 and Xbox Series X|S for release day. A PC version is widely expected but unannounced. The studio's pattern with GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 has been a 1–2 year delay between the console launch and PC release, so a PC version somewhere in 2027–2028 is the realistic expectation.

Will GTA 6 be on PS4 or Xbox One?

No. The game is current-gen-only at launch — PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar has not announced any last-gen versions, and given the visual fidelity shown in the trailers, a backport looks unlikely.

Who are the GTA 6 protagonists?

Lucia and Jason. The game has two playable characters in a Bonnie-and-Clyde-style criminal partnership. Lucia is the first female protagonist in the mainline GTA series (Catalina in GTA III is sometimes cited but was a side character, not a playable lead).

Is GTA 6 set in Vice City?

Yes — modern-day Vice City, plus the wider surrounding fictional US state of Leonida. The setting is a clear analogue of present-day Florida, with everglade wetlands, beaches, neon nightlife and a fictional Everglades-style national park visible in the trailers.

How big will the GTA 6 map be?

Rockstar hasn't published official map size figures. Based on what the trailers have shown (Vice City + suburbs + wetlands + countryside + at least one additional town) and what early reporting has suggested, the consensus expectation is significantly larger than GTA V's San Andreas map. Take any specific number cited online with a grain of salt until Rockstar confirms.

Will GTA Online continue after GTA 6 launches?

For at least a while, yes — Rockstar has stated that GTA Online will continue receiving support and updates after GTA VI's launch. Long-term, however, the expectation is that a new online platform will eventually replace it, likely tied to GTA VI.
